Shelters
Broward County will be opening three special needs adults shelters and one pediatric special needs shelter at 2PM Sunday. Broward County is still accepting applications for special needs residents. Call 311
Schools
Schools
The Museum of Discovery and Science and AutoNation IMAX Theater are open.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools: Schools will operate on a regular schedule Friday but night school is cancelled after 6 p.m., except some athletic games. All athletic activities, however, are cancelled for Saturday and Sunday.
Broward County Public Schools: Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Student activities, including athletic games, practices and clubs are cancelled. BCPS professional development activities are also cancelled until further notice.
Archdiocese of Miami: All Catholic Schools in Broward and Miami-Dade counties will be closed Tuesday. Masses will take place as scheduled.
All Broward College classes are cancelled starting at 12 p.m., Saturday until further notice.
All Gulliver school campuses will close Saturday and remain closed through Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Miami Country Day School will close on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Classes at Ransom Everglades School are cancelled for Tuesday.
Classes at University of Miami Coral Gables, marine, and medical campuses are cancelled through Tuesday. Classes are expected to resume Wednesday. However, the University of Miami’s School of Medicine will remain open to patients on Saturday during normal business hours.
Florida Memorial University has suspended classes.
Classes at Miami Dade College are cancelled through Tuesday Sept. 3.
Florida Atlantic University remains closed through Tuesday Sept. 3.
All Barry University campuses and sites in Florida are closed.
All Florida International University classes are cancelled Saturday. The campuses will remain open until noon, Sunday.
The North Miami campus of Johnson and Wales University remains closed until further notice.
The University of South Florida has cancelled all classes through Tuesday.
URBE University has suspended classes through Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Scheck Hillel Community School will close on Tuesday.
The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center has cancelled classes and programs at the facility from Sunday through Tuesday.
All Lynn University classes and activities are canceled for Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Government services
The Broward EOC will operate at a level two Friday.
Port Everglades, Port Miami and Port of Key West all remain fully open and operational during preparation for Hurricane Dorian.
Garbage Collection:
Sunrise will continue with regularly-scheduled solid waste and recycling collection through Saturday. However, if winds exceed 35 mph, collection services will be suspended and garbage and recycling collection will take place on your next scheduled collection day.
Pembroke Pines will have no bulk pick-up items/debris until further notice
Parks and attractions
Miami Beach parks, playgrounds, rec centers, pools and tennis courts will close at noon Saturday. Golf courses will stay open until 6 p.m. Saturday weather permitting.
City of Aventura parks are closed for storm preparations. The Community Recreation Center will close at 6 p.m. Friday. The gym is closed.
Jungle Island will be closed from Saturday through Tuesday.
Events
The Rolling Stones concert at Hard Rock stadium has been moved to Friday ahead of Hurricane Dorian.
This weekend’s Miami Home Design and Remodeling Show rescheduled to the weekend of Friday, Sept. 13 – 15.
The FSU vs. Boise State game scheduled for Saturday at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville moved to Doak Campbell Stadium at 12 p.m. Saturday.
