Golf great Tiger Woods was granted approval on Wednesday to travel out of the country to seek “comprehensive inpatient treatment” after his DUI arrest last Friday.

Woods’ attorney, Douglas Duncan, made the motion to travel, citing the 15-time majors champion’s need for an “intensive, highly individualized and medically integrated program” and privacy from media and public scrutiny, ESPN reported.

Martin County Court Judge Darren Steele granted the motion on Wednesday, according to the cable sports news outlet.

The bail that Woods posted after his arrest on Friday had no travel restrictions, but the motion was filed out of ethical transparency, The Athletic reported.

It was unclear where Woods might go for treatment.

Also on Wednesday, Woods, 50, declined the chance to be the U.S. captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup. That announcement came a day after Woods said that he would be stepping away from golf to get treatment. He will not play in this year’s Masters and will skip the annual Champions Dinner at the Augusta National Golf Course.

Wednesday’s developments occurred five days after Woods was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated near his South Florida home.

Woods entered a written plea of not guilty for the DUI charge, property damage and refusal to submit to a urine test after he was involved in a two-vehicle rollover crash near his residence in Jupiter Island, The Athletic reported. He is seeking a jury trial at the Martin County Circuit Court in Stuart, according to the website.

According to court records, Woods also submitted a waiver of arraignment through his attorney, according to WPTV. The hearing had been scheduled for April 23, ESPN reported.

In an arrest affidavit released Tuesday by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Tatiana Levenar wrote that Woods was “sweating profusely” and that his movement was “lethargic and slow,” while she spoke with him.

Deputies also stated that they found Woods with two hydrocodone pills in his pants pocket after the crash and had showed “signs of impairment.”

Hydrocodone was found in Woods’ system when he was arrested on DUI charges in May 2017, ESPN reported.

Woods explained to authorities that he was looking down at his cellphone and changing the radio station on his black Land Rover as he drove north, the affidavit stated.

This marks the third known instance in which Woods sought clinical treatment for off-the-course problems, The Athletic reported.

In 2009, he spent 45 days in an inpatient facility after news emerged about his marital infidelities, according to the sports news website.

In 2017, Woods completed a private intensive program to address his sleep disorder and pain management for his numerous back injuries. That came after his first DUI arrest, The Athletic reported.
